Digimon Partners //Ban List & Watch List

This is a list of all the cards that are banned from the Digimon Partners format, as well as cards that we are currently testing to see if they qualify for a ban. There are no timed updates to this list, and the list will be updated as the community tests and plays more games. Feel free to join the conversation on Discord!

Ban List

Mega Digimon Fusion! (BT5-109)

Mega Digimon Fusion! is the only card on both the official banlist and the Digimon Partners banlist. MDF allows for a player to freely go into a level 7 Digimon, cause havoc for everyone, and come out on top with a better board state than everyone else for minimal resources.

Gallantmon Crimson Mode (EX2-073)

Gallantmon Crimson Mode can fit into any deck playing red level 6s with no restrictions and with how long games can go, many cards end up in players’ trash. Gallantmon Crimson Mode can also trash many cards freely without checking them first.

Beelzemon Blast Mode

Beelzemon Blast Mode, in the Beelzemon deck that plays it, completely takes over and warps the trajectory of a game. It can be recurred very easily with Ai & Mako, and because the deck can cycle through cards quickly, its inevitable that it shows up as well. While Beelzemon Blast Mode does check each card that it hits in security, it will come back easily if deleted. We have felt that this card could be removed since other Beelzemon Blast Mode cards have been introduced, and this could potentially come off the list if we get more consistent tamer removal or more consistent removal of cards in the trash.

Beelzemon (X Antibody) (BT12-085)

Beelzemon (X Antibody) is able to trash multiple cards from a single security without checking them and without attacking. As a partner, it is also consistently coming back. As a card in purple decks, especially Beelzemon decks, Beelzemon (X Antibody) can be replayed from the trash fairly easily.

Gallantmon: Crimson Mode ACE (BT17-018)

Gallantmon: Crimson Mode ACE is a strict upgrade to the original Gallantmon Crimson Mode by having a [Counter] <Blast Digivolve> ability. Gallantmon: Crimson Mode ACE can be played the turn before it can attack, and because it trashes cards without checking them first just like the original Gallantmon Crimson Mode.

Watch List

Baihumon (BT9-069)

Baihumon used to have an immediate, devastating effect on one opponent and had the ability to warp the game, but as a Partner, it was very powerful and could lead to a lot of stalemates in games or people holding up removal for when it inevitably hit the table; there is a discussion to be had about banning cards as Partners only, but this hasn’t been the case yet. Baihumon has been removed from the banlist, mostly due to more powerful cards being introduced, but should definitely still be a discussion with your playgroup on playing Baihumon, even more so when it is played as a partner.

DeathXmon (BT9-112)

DeathXmon is very powerful, and used to be on the banlist, but with the amount of powerful cards that have been introduced, it has been removed from the banlist. Also, with a recent change to the rules, this card only looks at one opponent for its cost reduction instead of all opponents. But, it is still powerful enough to be left on the watch list if it becomes easily replayable.

WarGreymon (BT21-026)

WarGreymon could be played for free if another player has six or more Digimon, which means there could be a loop here, but so far there isn’t. As a partner, WarGreymon is basically cheap or free to play as a finisher with <Rush>, removal with <Raid>, and defense with <Blocker>. WarGreymon is highly suspect for being banned as a partner if that’s a ruling in the future.
